O’Kennedy Consulting adds Diversity & Inclusion expertise for RAISE programme members

June 2021

Leading Irish philanthropy agency O’Kennedy Consulting has recruited David Mbaziira, as an Associate Consultant expanding their service offer to provide expert knowledge and guidance on Diversity and Inclusion.

O’Kennedy Consulting in partnership with the Arts Council Ireland delivers RAISE, providing fundraising training and support to dozens of arts organisations across the country. The programme empowers them to engage individual donors, companies and foundations as partners in delivering first-class programmes, events and exhibitions. The RAISE programme supports Arts Council funded organisations to augment their regular funding by building capacity to generate significant new private philanthropic investment.

RAISE members include Children’s Books Ireland, Dublin Theatre Festival, Irish National Opera, Poetry Ireland, Dublin International Film Festival, Fishamble and the Ark.

David Mbaziira is the founder director of okusoka + Co, a consultancy focused on co-creating inclusive cultures. Its clients range from a wide variety of sectors including Comic Relief, Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, and Credico.

Speaking about the appointment David said, “I’m delighted to be joining the OKC team as an Associate and excited about starting to support these incredible cultural organisations on their diversity and inclusion journeys. Arts and culture is often the catalyst for wider social and cultural change, whether that’s through literature, film, art or performance. Mary and I first met in 2015 and I was impressed by her commitment to growing philanthropy in Ireland, fast forward six years and the opportunity to play a small part in the wider OKC team was something I really wanted to get involved with”.

Mary O’Kennedy, Managing Director of O’Kennedy Consulting said, “We are thrilled to have David on the team and are looking forward to the practical application of Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion within the Not-for-Profit sector and to discover what the possibilities could mean not just for RAISE participants, but for our other clients and to help inform diversity and inclusion at OKC. We believe we are now in a position to help individuals to think differently about all aspects of inclusion, engaging with fundraisers and reaching new diverse audiences, both internally and externally”.
